Reaching & Relationships

Hii guys!! Welcome back, I hope you all had a great week! Getting right into it, this week we’re going to go off of a little of what we talked about last week. Last week I lightly mentioned starting to research & get more involved in fashion week. Sooo let’s get innn tooo ittt.

Once I realized that I loved the industry and that I wanted to be more involved I truly didn’t know where to start. I just took a step back and observed with different eyes to begin with. After I saw who people were working with and what other people were doing as far as collabs I started looking into brands that I would want to work with. Essentially, just went through the FW line ups and following everyone, starting to dm people. I knew that with the shows that I was doing already I worked very closely with the stylists- so I started looking into stylists as well. You just gotta dm everyone lol. You have to find the people of the people. You have to dm everyone, email everyone and really just put yourself out there

I saw this woman that I had been following for awhile post that she needed people to join her nail team to do shows for fashion week & so I reached out and asked how I could get into this. Just something that took me a minute got me on a team of some of the most talented nail techs I’ve ever seen, and I did 3 shows with them. This one post that I saw from following a ‘random’ brand got me onto a team, and is still opening so many doors for me.

There may be doors that open, some that close, and even more that stay ajar. One time one of my friends in NY told me “it’s all about who you know and what you’ve done,” and yes.

So- I feel as if the relationships that I’ve made are more important. I am also a person that believes that everything happens for a reason 🀍🀍

We’ve made so many amazing friends & met some icons.

The people and the groups that we work with really feel like families tbh. The people become familiar, some of the models are the same for shows because it fits the designers vibe. Then you see some models at multiple shows because that’s what they do lol.

The key for me to maintain these relationships when I live out of state is just communication. This is one of social medias advantages, is that I can stay connected with these people from thousands of miles away & that’s how we stay friends. Friends support each other, and supporting these amazing people that I get to work with is one of the best parts of the industry we work in.

Okay okay who have I met?

Let’s talk about it… let’s name drop a couple of names… Sometimes, fame is relative. We all live in different versions of the world, so some people that I know you don’t and some people that you know I don’t. There’s always a few ‘celebrity models’  in the shows. Like headlines essentially. Most are the nicest people every… a couple haven’t been πŸ˜…☕️

Some highlights:

Joe Van O 🀍 Joe is our stylist. He & I worked our very first ever lead NYFW show together, and now he has brought me into the J/W fam, he’s literally going to style me for my wedding!!! Joe is a hero, he is a gem, a diamond, he is a poet, he is everything. I will always be grateful for him 🀍🀍🀍  shout out Joe 🀍

Up until this year, every show that we were at Julia Fox had been to πŸ˜‚ you know “uncut gemms”. The first time we met her was at an EV show & Julia & her baby had matching custom outfits. & Andrea is like “omg it’s Julia fox” and I was just so not paying attention & im like ohhh this cute little guy with a little custom fit & Andrea’s like no it’s Julia fox look! It was just really funny & finally I was like ohhh Julia Fox πŸ˜‚

We met Alana Hadid- literally the most beautiful person inside and out. She is so so amazing, it was a great honor to work with her for her fashion week debut as well.

Most of the people that we work with are ‘famous’ in their own realms and they’re just so genuine & humbled that we don’t even realize it until we tag them in posts & it’s like “ohh wow you have like thousands of followers and a platform” and all this other stuff. But, that’s also a testament to the people that we work with surrounding us with good people.

Two designers that we work with were finalist in the CFDA fashion fun award this year. That’s sick. They’ve styled some icons themselves as well. Nicola Coughlan- from bridgerton- has worn a few pieces from Wiederhoeft.

Ugh. I love what I do, and I love who I get to do it with. I’m really happy with the community that I’ve built around myself and I’m really happy that it’s still growing. So welcome to the fam. Thank you for being here. I love sharing with you guys & I hope you’re enjoying. Next week I’ll transition out of fashion week a bit and talk about salon life. To switch it up a little πŸ™‚‍↔️

Have a great weekend everyone, stay safe ❤️
